A⁵: Development Method for Driver Assistance Systems based on a Domain-Specific Language
Within the cooperation project between the AUDI AG and the Chair of Computer Science 7 at the FAU, the department conducts research in terms of the optimization of software development methods for the functional development of sensor-assisted driver assistance systems in the automotive domain.
On the one hand, already established methods are analyzed and potential optimization fields are determined. On the other hand, new methods which are partly not yet used in the automotive domain are examined with regard to their applicability and they are improved or adapted for practical use.
In the automotive industry, artifacts (models, diagrams, source code, documents, etc.) generated during the development of the functions are either not reused or recreated during some phases of the development process. This is due to the organizational structure and the complexity of the processes, but can also be caused by historical and/or personnel reasons. In particular, the cooperation with suppliers is still mainly based on manual data exchange and individual manual data interpretation.
The Chair for Computer Science 7 (Computer Networks and Communication Systems) therefore develops an approach based on the promising field of domain-specific languages. This approach allows a system specification in a familiar way, which is capable of the automatic generation of further artifacts based on the underlying information, which are then provided to the users. These results can then be enriched with further details during the following development phases. This improves both the quality and the efficiency of software development in the automotive domain.
