Einlesen, Manipulation und Weitergabe von CAN-Kommunikation in Echtzeit am Beispiel eines HIL-Systemtestaufbaus
In order to test and validate the behavior of train control units in a laboratory
environment, the components to be tested are integrated into an HIL (Hardwarein-
the-Loop) test environment. In this environment, it is possible to observe and
test the components’ behavior as realistically as possible in a controlled laboratory
setting by simulating analog and digital input and output signals as well as the rest
of the communication environment in the train.
The communication between control units and peripheral devices or actuators is
also an important observation object for test cases. However, the methods available
in the laboratory environment so far for manipulating the communication have been
limited to physically interrupting the communication paths, which has restricted the
scope of possible test cases with regard to the communication of the devices under
test. It is therefore also necessary to observe this communication and manipulate it
in detail to simulate certain test cases. This poses the challenge of not exceeding the
time constraints of the data bus while it is being evaluated and manipulated in an
intermediate device.
In this specific case, it is about the CAN communication between the brake
control unit and the brake actuator, which is to be evaluated and manipulated by an
interposed real-time computer (PXI). The new test cases made possible by this can
lead to a better understanding and optimization of the real communication behavior.
Within the scope of this bachelor’s thesis, the possibilities for real-time manipulation
of the CAN communication between two control units for system test purposes
were discussed and, if possible, implemented. This was done using a PXI real-time
computer with two CAN interface cards from NI that is compatible with the existing
test environment. This has created new possibilities for conducting safety-relevant
tests.
